I think there's a time and place for it. I'm more for reconstructive surgery than having a procedure because you don't like a body part. If a person has an obvious feature that could benefit from surgery, then maybe if that person wanted it, it would be suitable. Eg. I saw a person with two different sized nostrils. If that were me, I'd have it fixed. Overall, though, I think we've gone way too far to be cookie-cutter beautiful. I just read an article about women having labia reduction surgery because they're worried about dangling. That is just too much.

No I don't like it personally and wouldn't have anything done to my face or body because I'm not perfect but I'm happy with what I've got. I'm also grateful I've got my health unlike some people. Saying that the only thing I would have done is if I lost loads of weight and my skin was hanging off me which would be uncomfortable (which is not the case I must say!). The world has become too obsessed with looks and it's crazy. What's so great about having perfect teeth, perfect boobs, body etc. It's boring and I'd prefer to be with someone who didn't have a six pack or look like Tom Cruise. Sounds like a cliche but it's what inside that counts. Love yourself.

I think it is a fantastic tool for some people to gain confidence in a way they never would have been able to with a different treatment. Certain ailments / accidents can destroy someones appearance and leave them feeling inhuman. But the low self esteem argument is a load of BS when it comes to minor proceedures. It has become way to much of an easy fix and helps perpetuate the feeling that looks are the most important thing.

No, not unless you have gone through a major accident and had like your face ripped off. Then it's useful. But it is offensive why should these rich people get to be plastic, fake, perfect looking Barbies??? It's terrible and if everyone give in to it the world is going to be full of same looking dumb plastic perfect looking people, high off laughing gas. Also it lets people correct mistakes which is bad because how will you ever learn? Smaller scars also can giv character to a persons face, without them they are blank canvases. It can make people soooo dull.

No.

But I can't see how it's offensive to people who have suffered scars. Some people get Cosmetic Surgery as they have very low self esteem.

That helps them like the people that have physical problems.

Yes. Definate Yes. It's your body, so what you want with it.

How is it offensive to people who have scars and accidents? Or do you think we should all ugly ourselves up so not offend anyone? Perhaps we should break our own legs so wheelchair users do not get upset by the sight of our gait?

I'm guessing you're about 14 years old.

I agree with demon, why is it that people think cosmetic surgery is their business and their right to judge others? that baffles me!
I'm happy with mine :o) I dont give a damn what other people think. I might not like your hair or your kitchen, but that's your personal choice so I wouldn't start a topic of conversation over it. If so we could all go on and on .......... you might have long hair? so why arent you considering those less fortunate that might not have any hair? "shave it off and show some respect!"

I think it is up to the person, but then there should be a limit. I think it was wrong for Drs to continue messing up Micheal Jackson to the point where he doesnt look human anymore. Other than that I think it's all good.

It's not your business or anyone else's. If somebody decides to have cosmetic surgery, that is their own personal choice.
