It's about 15 miles from Lille to the Belgian border, where the first town is Mouscron. The Regional Express train takes 16 minutes.

Recommend going to Bruges, however, which is 45 miles away. It's a delightful old town with canals and many places to shop for lace and chocolate. The train takes 80 minutes.

Well, the eurostar is not so expensive! Full price is 22 euros one way, 11 euros if you're under 26, and 15 euros if it's the weekend. And it takes only 38 minutes to do lille-brussels

well, the cheapest is the regional train . you take a train till kortrijk or gent. (lille kortrijk-7euros) and then take another local till brugge or antwerp or brussels. it all depends upon your choice of destination. in total it should not more than 20 euros one way. the snag is that waiting/ transfer time can be long. i recommend u to consult b-rail site.
or, u can take eurostar till brussels. its short and comfortable ride, but the trip is expensive..
