I need examples of current immigration laws or just arguments that say not enough skilled immigrants are allowed in legally. I need this for a debate.

Put 'H1B visa' into your browser. This year they ran out of the year's allotment in April, before the foreign students hoping to win one graduated in June and those students are having a heck of a time trying to get special short term visas to stay here and try for next year's allotment. The Senate Bill would more than double the amount, and Bill Gates lobbied Capital Hill about it. He wants those computer techs!

the US has so many illegal immigrants that the number of legal immigrants is more tightly controlled. it is the inability or the unwillingness of the government to stop illegal immigration that causes it to more tightly restrict legal immigration. it is like the gun control argument. everyone agrees that there are too many guns on the street but because of our inability or unwillingness to stop illegal gun users we restrict those who we can (the law abiding) in an attempt to lower the total number.
the fact is that there is virtually no amount of legal immigrants or legal gun owners that is too many. and no amount of illegal immigrants or illegal gun owners that are too few. but because we are unable or unwilling to crack down on criminals we crack down on those who obey laws. it is folly
