I like reading these books but they almost always leave me disappointed. I'd rather read one of these though than go to a psychiatrist. Any suggestions? I don't care what topic, just self help books. I've got all kinds of problems. I don't want any religious self help books unless they are about how to free yourself from religious shackles or how to reverse the brain damage caused by Catholicism.

you know i just go to amazon.com and browse the section i'm interested in then read reviews from the consumers who read them. plus you can buy used books there for a bargain :). it totally depends on the subject. oprah also seems to recommend some good books. there are just soooo many self help books on the self you can get overwhelmed.
