Triple barrel curling iron works well. Or wrap your hair around a curling iron barrel and spray the crap out of it with some hairspray then brush lightly with your fingers......makes great looking loose curls! You might not use your fingers though if your curls fall a bit naturally.

Get a bottle of Catwalk brand All Sexed Up body building volumizer (about $13 at a salon or beauty supply house). Spray it generously on wet hair. Let it air-dry. While it is air-drying, scrunch hair with your hands periodically (just take a fist full of hair and wad it up like you are wadding up a piece of paper). Don't brush it when it dries. If it is a little tangled, just finger-comb it. This makes very natural-looking waves and holds well on most hair.

here are some suggestions to get wavy/curly hair. i havent tried some of them, but i ve heard that they work-
curl with iron or rollers
put some hairspray in ur hair before going to bed and the tossing and moving will create random waves
braid ur hair and when u remove it there will be waves
put some defining product in ur hair and keep twirling it around ur finger. then, finger comb gently through to separate the waves
use sea salt spray or surf spray. sea salt will give really pretty beach waves
use mousse
scruch it with gel
good luck!

You could try a crimping iron. You'd have to check at a hair supply place that sells black hair products. The hot iron has waves in it.
Or, try braiding your hair in a bunch of braids, put some gel on it, let it dry, then take it out. Then put hair spray on it to hold.
It just depends on how wavy you want it to be.

Take a showr/ get hair soaked. Devide your hair into like 8 sections (depending on how thick your hair is). Then Braid all sections and fall asleep in them when you wake up your hair will have dried wavy.

If your hair is that thick... I doubt it will dry if you put it in braids when it is wet.... maybe slightly damp. But braids make it kinky, not wavy.
What about wrapping your slightly damp hair around rags (skinny pieces of fabric) then tying the rags together. Should come out super curly! ALSO... don't forget the hairspray through all stages!
good luck

Curl your hair with a curling iron. just a couple curls, then BLAST it with hairspray, ALOT OF HAIRSPRAY!! and then THE TINIEST AMOUNT of hair gel or wax on every single curl. it should look nice. I did it to my friend (who also said that her hair's impossible to curl) and it looked really cute the whole night!

Hot curls, you can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply, Wal-Mart, Target...you plug them in, let them heat up, roll your hair up, and in just minutes, you have curls...run your fingers through your hair if you want it to be wavy.
