my neighbors moved out a few weeks ago and their dog is still in the house. it doesn't appear that anyone is coming over to attend to it. i don't think anyone is. what can i do to protect this animal.

i have called the police twice. they said they would check it out but have not gotten back to me. they thought that perhaps someone could be coming in to attend to the dog since i don't sit and watch the house all day and night (it was just that i noticed no one is there anymore)

when i walk my dog, i see the black lab sticking his head out the blinds and he barks. who knows maybe someone is there. they were very strange people to begin with and no one ever spoke to them.

i also called the local spca but only got a message maching asking to leave a name an number of where the complaint was. i would only do this anonymously as they might be violent people who lived there. i was told they were stealing electricity from their neighbors until they got caught.

If you feel that the dog has been abandoned call the local humane society ASAP!

Call your local animal rescue association and inform them and if you have one locally call local pound/shelter. Get the animal help. The longer you wait the longer the animals health is at risk. Since it has been several weeks it could be dehydrated or starving do not wait on this.

Call what's it called animal control? Or something? Then ask them if you can take the dog in for your own if you want or let the dog be in the pound and be chosen by a happy family in need of a dog. :D

Try calling your neighbors to see what's going on. Or, take it to an Animal Rescue place or the Humaine Society if the neighbors don't reply.

a few weeks ago?!?
poor dog!! :/
are you sure that the dog is still alive?!
give him some food as soon as possible and call your local authority (town council, police, local vet) to make them know everything about this situation.
And you have to do it now.. it's for this poor dog..
..

You should leave a message with your local SPCA. Just be sure to let them know you want to remain anonymous. They will respect your wishes in this situation.

Call the police and request a welfare check. You could try the local humane society too.

if they moved out and have been gone for weeks...CALL your local Animal Control Office or the Police. In most states it's illegal to abandon an animal. It may be starving to death.....
