I used to have bleached blonde streaks and colored hair. A year ago I dyed it a really dark brown. Now half of my head (from root to about 6 inches) is virgin hair, naturally dark brown, and the other half is the formerly bleached/colored hair that is now a light brown after the dye has worn off.

I now want to color my entire hair with a deep burgundy color, will the results look weird on my half virgin/half dyed hair? Will the top of my head be a different shade than the bottom?

Thank you!

No but you should put the color on the already colored hair first because it takes longer to process then virgin hair.

First of all the basics of hair itself. When a person has dark hair they have an underlying pigment of Oranges, reds and yellows. As a persons hair lightens naturally or chemically it gives away the reds, oranges and some yellows depending on the light the colour.
Since you have previous "light" colours, meaning the Highlights..not streaks..skunks have streaks..and you coloured it..you dye clothes..lol..also and want a deep burgandy colour this is what will have to happen.
I am assuming you are using boxed colour. Your natural is darker then your coloured part, regardless of the lighter part. I would have to see how light everything is but I am imagining. I would apply from your virgin hair down to the ends waiting twenty minutes and then apply to the roots for the remaining time. If you get a box colour you will see instructions on a virgin application. Use that not regrow because the roots are darker. Or better yet call the 1-800 number on the box as they would know their product better then anyone who can answer your question here...good luck!

Yes the top and the bottom will most likely take the dye in different ways. Best thing to do is have a salon color it for you. They can use different colors for the top and the bottom so that they come out even :) Burgundy sounds like a pretty color.

First of all, don't do this yourself. This is one of those situations where you would be better off going to a salon and having a professional work on your hair. Get it trimmed, and remember that if you want to dye your hair to a color different from your own that it will need retouched every four to six weeks to keep looking good - period. I used to do my coloring myself until I ended up in a situation like yours. Then once I started getting it done by a professional I got more compliments than when I did it myself. Sure it might be rough to fork out the money to get it done, but you want to look good right??? Also - yes your hair will turn out different colors so please go to a professional!!!

Woah,,, you sound like me. I used to have the SAME thing, and my hair looked really wierd, like multicolored. A couple weeks ago I had my mom (temporarily to be sure) dye my hair dark brown, close to my natural.I LOVE IT. It's temporary so it's gonna wear off, but if I'm lucky I'll get it cut a couple more times and the blonde will be gone. IF I'M LUCKY. If the brown wears off too soon then I want to TEMPORARILY color it BLACK... I'm just dying it over the blonde to mask it until I can finally cut it off and have my natural hair.

My advice for you is to dye it close to your natural hair color, or another color if you want. It might turn out a little darker on the top than the bottom, but it'll be barely noticible.

I will come out two-toned. Try dying it as close as you can find to your natural brown first. After you have a full head of your natural color, wait a couple of weeks and then dye it burgundy.

Yes. the color will take to the bleach very well and will not as much on your dark brown hair.

well u need to fill the hi-lighted area with a semi perm color to completly get rid of all the blonde cause on some of the hi-lighted area if u put the burgany color over that it will fade to a hue of pink. once the semi is on and use a light brown cause semis town out darkerwash and rinse and then u can apply ur burgany to ue whole head

Yes your untreated hair will be a different color from the chemically treated ends. It's best to go to a professional to get the desired results because two processes will have to be done to get the desired effect.

Go to a salon and have them perfessionally dye your hair the results should be great. Also try adding a few highlight to off set the color. I think your hair will look nice.
