I would start looking about a month before the wedding. Get time to get them ordered and personalized if that is what you want. I had 3 weeks to plan my wedding and didnt have time to personalize my husbands wedding band. I wished I would have gotten to.

Start looking at styles before you look at purchasing one.
By looking on the Internet you can see the variety of rings that are available for both brides and grooms. Decide if you would like a single wedding ring or a set. If you are both exchanging rings, decide if you want them to look similar or not. You should also discuss engraving the inside of the ring.
By "window shopping" for a ring you will get a better idea of what will fit into your budget and reflect your personality.
Visit http://reneweddreams.501megs.com. There is an add on the front page for rings with your vows engraved on the inside!

You can start looking for the Wedding Band, when you look for the Engagement Ring if you want them to be a match set, just don't buy them until she say yes. You and her can even go to the jewelry store together, that can be where you propose.

Whenever you decide to get married and until you find the right ones. I know friends who found the right bands three years before the wedding and some that found it a week before. There is not hard and fast timeline here, just find the rings that work best for you.

Some time after the engagement when you have a wedding date set. If you need a matching band for your engagement ring, you might want to get him to buy it right away if they have it in stock, or they might have to order it.

In most cases, its best to wait until you've found someone willing to marry you.
