My son and I were invited to a birthday party for a child in his music class. We only see them during this class once a week and have known them for about a month. I don't want to hurt the mom's feeling by not going - she is new in the area and doesn't have much family in this country - but I don't want to spend much on a child I hardly know.

It's Kindermusik. It is a parent/child activity class that introduces the child to many developmental skills through music and movement. They do not learn to play instruments unless you include the occasional drum pounding and bell ringing.

Get the child some crayons and coloring books, markers, finger paint, etc. You can go to Wal-Mart or a dollar store and pick up this sort of thing for ten dollars. The kid will probably love it, you won't hurt the mother's feelings, and you won't be out too much money.

It doesn't matter how much you spend or how little. The child won't know and the mother won't care because it's the thought that counts. Kids grow out of toys so fast. I think that they would rather play with the box than the gift it's self. I would say that I would spend around $20 but shop around you will be amazed at what you can find for children under that. This child is 3 why not buy him a colouring In Book and some pencils. This will make him feel more grown up. I did this for my 3yr ofl nephew and he loved it. Hope I could help.

I would spend between 5 and 10 dollars, at 3 a child is more interested in the wrapping paper and box than the gift. Just being there to play is probably more fun.

3 yr old in a music class? What instrument is being taught? Get him/her something, if you've been invited. Go to the dollar store if you're too cheap to go to a toy store.

I would spend about twenty to twenty five dollars. Not insignifigant but not enough to break the bank. FYI it's common to invite childrens classmates to birthday parties that may be one of the only places she knows other three year olds too!

$20 at the most for everything--including paper, the card, etc. Just get a nice cheap gift for about $10, throw in a candy bar and a card, and call it a day.

I would spend around 7 or 8 dollars. You don't have to go all out. Get him a couple cardboard books. Kids love books.
