You have torn your skin off and possibly it was a deep tear. Wash your finger with soap and water, dry it off well, put some neosporin on it, and put a bandage on it. I've done this so many times it's ridiculous. The pain will subside in a few days. Good luck!

You probably pulled it out at the root of the hangnail, causing the skin to break and bleed a bit. Clean it thoroughly to make sure it doesn't get infected (it might already be infected). If it's red and tender, it might be infected. If it doesn't get better, see a doctor.

This has happened to me before... don't you just hate hangnails? Now I just try to use a nail clipper to cut the hangnail down without pulling it all the way out. That seems to work better.

The tissue under the nail is very sensitive, and pulling a hangnail can damage it. Plus it gets irritated as the nail grows back. Keep the area clean and treat it with peroxide to avoid infection.

Lots of nerve endings in the cutical and fingertips. Next time clip the hangnail with clippers. You will heal in a few days. I find metholate burns when you put it on but it takes the pain out.

You have ripped off the cuticle in the "quick"...meaning, you pulled it back too far. If you put a bit of Neosporin on a bandaid and leave it there overnight, you will be much better in the morning. AND make sure you keep your hands clean to avoid infection.

It means that you injured the "quick" of your nail - sort of the root. Keep it clean and but a little antibiotic cream on it and it'll be good as new in a few days.

It's probably infected. Slather it with bacitracin 3 times a day. Also soak it in warm salt water.
