No, you really should NOT attempt to do this yourself. As a stylist I can say that every time you apply a chemical to your hair you are damaging it. Yes, it can be straightened this way, but the real risk is that you will very likely overdry, or cause severe breakage that breaks off, or needs cut off. A salon can help you to decide if you would like them to do it for you. They can pick a product that is mild, and will not break the existing permed hair off. Anytime you can still see wave in a perm, there is still chemical present. Let a proffessional help you , and don't end up BALD ! Its not a good look for everyone ya know ! LOL ten pts?

If I were you, I would go back to the salon and tell them that you are tired of the perm and you want to straighten your hair now. They should be able to do it without damaging your hair too badly, but if you do it at home without a clear reference to what they used to perm it in the first place, you're likely to damage, even break, your hair. I would be really nervous about straightening permed hair at home.

just buy another perm and instead of curling gently comb you hair straight for the duration of the developing period and do the same with the neutraliser
