It is ok to like him but not to act on it until he is finished in the other relationship. By the way, you can like people you dont even know, like actors etc.

Stay away from him until he is broken up and has gone through time alone. If he still likes you then ... he might be worth your while. Othewise, you are probably just a space he will land on in the dating game of checkers.
