.....even though the two people are so different??? (I mean, share huge common goals and views in life, but different personalities.)

do you know why opposites attract? because we are drawn to people who have qualities we admire that we lack in ourselves. Sometimes it is a perfect match, and sometimes its a disastrous recipe. it depends whether opposite person complements the other person or not.

Yes they do work - my sweetheart is Asian, grew up in Hong Kong and is 13 years older (I'm 40 something he's 50 something). I am a Midwest girl, and I look like my avatar. We have very few similar childhood experiences. He has kids, I don't. I love to camp - he's chicken to go camping. He's quiet, I'm a chatterbox, he's not so good with money - I'm a great money manager. Politically he is my opposite (but it makes for great debates). I am very impatient, he is very patient. He is indifferent towards dogs, I have 3.

But I think the things that are the best is what we have in common. Our spiritual views, the fact that we have worked in the same career fields and love to cook. We travel well together (more important than you would think). We also respect each other and truly want the best for one another. This is the most fulfilling relationship I have ever been in .

The differences are what we balance, the commonalities are what we cherish. Hope this helps.

In the right relationship it can make the individuals become one complete person. My parents are complete opposites. My Dad loves the outdoors, having a drink, he is very impulsive, and will try anything once.

My mother on the other hand is very conservative, almost never drinks, and is adverse to change.

When I ask them how it has worked for so many years, they say that their goals of raising a family, having success, and their commitment to eachother is what really is important. Eachone serves a specific role in the relationship and they would not know how to function without each other.

My husband and I have been together for 6+ years. He's quiet, I'm loud. He doesn't drink, I do. He's a homebody, I love to go out and do things. He's of a different race, religion, and political party than me. But we're doing just fine.
I think the most important thing in a relationship like this is to not
infringe on eachother's beliefs.

If people share common goals and views on life, then they really aren't opposite, they're just human.

Yes oposites attract, my husband (of only 4 mths) are a perfect example. He is a little shy and the quiet type, I am an X New Yorker and loud and oppinionated. He loves his home and I love to go out. I love the beach, he does not. I love our pool and go swimming, he hates the sun and does not enjoy the pool. I enjoy going out to the restaurants, he loves my cooking and prefers staying home....... If he had 10 hours to sleep, he would take it, me no way..........but I am crazy in love with him, it works

Yes, at least in my case opposites attract. And it's a tough road, but with a little compromise, it can work.
