Can anyone suggest any good travel foods for someone who can't eat peanuts?
It's hard to buy stuff along the way because almost everything has added peanuts and they're good and compact to take to travel. They're in all those energy bars but I obviously can't eat those.

I'm really stuck. Plus I'm trying to avoid meat and dairy and the sandwiches are usually chicken, tuna, cheese, egg, prawn, bacon !
Also the bread often has labels that can't guarantee nut free :(

I was thinking about fruit but that is a bit messy and strong smelling.

Thanks xx

Hope this helps!

Graham crackers, dry cereal, dried fruit, hard candies, some things like Skittles, rice cakes/crackers, potato chips, soy butter and jelly sandwiches (you can find bread that is dairy free. if you have a Crest or HEB close they have safe bread), pretzels, some healthfood store cookies,....

You can travel easily and avoid meat, dairy and peanuts. I have a child that is HIGHLY dairy and peanut allergic and we have traveled with very little trouble. Read labels. It takes some getting used to but you will get the hang of it. I have a list of "buzz" words for milk if you would like it. Peanuts are generally peanuts. HOWEVER, if you are avoiding peanuts you need to watch out for all nuts as you never really know what is in a bag.

Having experience packing snacks for kids to take to school (where nut products are NOT allowed) here are some suggestions:

Homemade cookies
Banana bread (even better w/ chocolate chips)
Crackers and cheese
Fruit - dried, fresh or canned
Tortillas and salsa
Veggies and dip
Yogurt (put in the freezer overnight, it will thaw by lunchtime - do the same for dips, juice boxes, plastic bottles of water)
Crackers, pita or bread sticks and apple sauce
Cereal
Granola or cereal bars
Bring some lettuce, a tomato and buns or pocket pitas. Make sure you bring a knife to slice them up and make sandwiches when you are ready for them.
A thermos of soup, stew or chili.

Happy travels - hope some of these appeal to you.

Check out some of the parenting sites on the Internet (Today's Parent, Parenting, babiesonline.com, babycenter.com) - they always have suggestions and recipes for peanut-free meals.

Assuming that you can eat other kinds of nuts then almonds and walnuts would be good. Grapes travel pretty well, as long as they don't get squished! Apples too, you could cut one up and put it in Tupperware to make it less messy. Whole grain crackers (like Breton) and pre-packaged string cheese might work in place of a sandwich. I've taken all of these at one time or another and they've worked out for me :)
Breton has info about their peanut free products here:

Rice crackers...You can also find a good selection of foods (meals, snacks etc.) in stores designed for those of us with allergies. Some pharmacies carry them, and some hospitals have a store of this type as well. Organic stores usually have a section that contains nut-free foods, gluton-free foods and vegetarian foods.

I like the Clif Bars best and am sure some of those are peanut free.
Otherwise you can mix up your own formula bar from oats and protein mixes and dried fruits . . . kinda like an oatmeal cookie but modify to your need & taste. I use to make them for work break snacks but people started coming and snatching them up !
