If you are not at school, college or university, then you need to enroll at one of these. If you don't like that type of tution, then go into libraries and try and find books which interest you. If you are working, then read something in relation to your field of work so as to get promoted.
However, all that requires you to improve your concentration and memory. Learning is memory that has persisted and the ability of intelligence rests on memory. If something is to be retained, one must give it the necessary attention and interest.
Memories fed away fast if not reviewed or used every now and then. But forgotten material can be relearned in less time than is required for the original even after many years of disuse.
One should trust and believe in their ability to remember.Concentrate on accurate input of information, not speed, initially. Concentrate on the most significant things, the essential and the important. Take brief notes in your own words and arrange them in some meaningful order. Finally do not over do it, take things gradually. Study then enjoy your sleep, oncemore, don't overlearn.

Do crosswords, stop using that calculator, stop waiting for other people to answer your questions (go looking for the answers yourself). Alternatively, a brain transplant from a genius might help.

first of all, you are NOT thick and stupid. secondly, i think its great that you're willing to open up and learn new things. as for improving your intelligence, i'd suggest you read books on world history, cultural studies, sociology, philosophy, enrol on a course at college, read and watch the news, oh and go on answers and you'll discover a lot of good answers on the sociology and culture, history, news and events, education and reference, arts an humanities sections to name but a couple. if you're looking for a particular book to read, for starters i'd reccomend any good philosophy book and look up philosophers such as rene decartes, michel foucault, david hume, immanuael kant, as well as one of the most famous thinkers of all-time: karl marx. you'll be surprised by what you read on these thinkers, in regards to the work they specialise in. hope it goes well for you and good luck!

Try to calculate numbers in your head. Such as tip or taxes. Of course, read, but not just anything. Try to read classic literature or philosophy. Force yourself through it, even if its dull or thick. Try to form your own opinion of it.
