Did depends on the child's age. Younger childern should follow the tutors every word. At least to learn the basics correctly. As students become older you would want them to question and to develope a sense of awarness around them. It also depends on the subject the tutor is teaching. I wouldn't want a student to question in certain subjects like math in which there is usally only one answer but for philosophy and science questioning is the base of knowledge.

A better student should employ both, that is following the tutors word and be inquisitive. If a student just sticks to the tutors every word, then the student is likely to falter as tutors being human beings can also make mistakes. By asking questions, the student may be displaying an inaptitude in grasping facts during teaching sessions and may end up asking irrelevant questions.

A student that questions is better it shows a desire to learn and not to take things at face value. If you question you will have a deeper understanding and remember that tutors don't know everything, also there might be different view points that need examining. Just time the questions right since noone likes to be interuppted all the time.

It would be the student that questions. Because if you only accept what you are told then all you know is that tutor's perspective on things. If you question you gain a deeper understanding on what is involved in that topic and also other ideas to think about. This gives you a greater perspective on things than the other student type.

As the old saying says, the greatest fool is the one who doesn't ask questions about what he doesn't fully understand.

The one that follows the tutor's every word. If they questioned at every word, they wouldn't know what they were questioning about until the sentence was completed.
