Everyone knows how much I love Brian Mitchell, and what an underrated fighter he is.
What would happen if Mitchell and Barrera went at it?
Brian's the naturally bigger guy, and very few fighters have been able to sustain such offensive pressure, but Barrera is an equally talented fighter that's been in there with better opposition.

Fifteen rounds.

Brent - if Barrera wins the fight, Mitchell wins the rematch.

Brad ~
In my opinion, it depends at what point in Barreras career this fight took place, if it were in his prime, then hands down Marco loses, possibly by a knockout. Everyone seems to forget, although a great boxer now it wasn't that long ago when Marco was your typical Mexican warrior, ready to take one to give one. He tried to impose his will on you and if by chance he didn't things would unravel a little bit for Barrera.
Junior Jones exposed this in his two fights with Barrera, Barrera couldn't impose his will on him or back him up, end result two bad loses. Mitchell would have stopped Jones in his prime in less than 6 rounds.
Brian threw sharp accurate punches straight down the middle and he was always in phenomenal shape. The one thing that Mitchell did but really didn't get the credit he rightfully deserved was move his head well he could make a fighter miss and make him look fooolish in doing so. Mitchell was a work horse and could adjust to anything a young Barrera brought to the table.
If this fight was ever to happen with the Marco from lets say the past 4 years then, Marco would beat Mitchell on points in a close fight, but in their primes deffintely Mitchell, Mitchell would stop Marco in less than 6 rounds.
Thanks for a tough question Brad, I have always been a Barrera fan, but being a fan doesn't make me any less of a realist, in his prime Mitchell was a great fighter and in Marcos prime he had potential to become the great fighter that he is.

This is a tough match up to pick a winner.

This fight I believe would be give and take from the opening bell. it would a great fight in the sense that neither man would give in to the others pressure. there would be some dramatic toe to toe exchanges. I think this fight goes the distance and Barrera wins a close but unanimous decision.
A very tough answer to pick a winner. It has been some years since I've seen Mitchell fight. Perhaps he does win a hypothetical rematch. But I'll stick with Barrera.
