I don't see why not. And the fact that the cat will grow up around the dog is even better---they cat will be scared of the dog at first (naturally...) but after a while the cat will probably try to play with the dog (since they are naturally playful when they are babies).
At first the kitten may require a lot of attention so that helps that you are home a lot. After a while though, cats become very independent--and while they like the fact that you are home, don't count on them spending a lot of time actually with you!! They are very funny creatures.
But anyway yes you should. I advise to adopt one from a shelter,,,so many of them out there that need a good home or they will be put to sleep...plus spca, etc helps you and spays/neuters the animal and gives it first shots all with your adoption fee!

Sure, cats are easy to care for as they are more independant and don't mind the time alone. if you are gone all day you will have to have a litter box- put a baby gate across the door to that room so your dog doesn't get into the litter and so your kitten can escape. Just raise it up in the doorway a few inches so your kitty can go under it.

I just got a kitten and you wouldn't beleive how they light up your world... You already have a dog so you know the responsibilities of having a pet, and since your dog doesn't mind cats then i would say go for it!

Yes! I love all animals but cats can be a blast to play with. They are really easy to take care of too and can provide you with years of companionship. I got my cats when they were very very young. There is a lot of cats that live outside my apartment complex and I kind of "rescued" them and took them in. They are in perfect health and are over 2 years old now. Cats are also known to lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure.
