Just wondering--is polyamory based on genuine affection in most cases, or just an excuse for threesomes?

Sure they can...polyamory is a relationship based on love...threesomes are generally just about sex.

They can work as long as all parties want to be in the family. In some respects its no different from any other family relationship love and respect works. However, if jealousy abounds it will fail.

I think it is possible that it could work long-term. You really have to have a certain type of person for it to go smoothly though. You would also need a whole lot of trust.

Cant really see it lasting long term.. I would think that at some point someone is going to get tired of the situation and leave or force one fo them out.

I'm sure that you can find cases of polygamy that work, but I would never consider it for myself. I do not share my man with anyone.
