I think he has fallen back on some sexist notions and wants to "protect" you from harm.
Advise him that this is the 21st, Century, not the 15th and that you are a Modern Woman

Don't let him race it. In fact you should not race it either regardless of how well you drive. Things happen and if you are not familiar with the road your driving on then you're in big trouble. Not only that but since it's a new car 1) you are not aware of it's limits 2) You should not be racing a new car as it will damage your engine unless it's well run in 3) All it needs is a little bit too much gas on a corner and your back end will slip out. You sure you know how to correct it if this happens??

First of all, why race it? Is it a power thing? It is dangerous to be racing cars around especially around curves. What if he gets hurt? Or someone else? If you don't like being told what to do tell him. If it is your car, He shouldn't be racing it, unless you gave him permission. Did he buy the car for you? If your car is wrecked, your insurance will go through the roof! If you both like racing so much, you should get together a stock car to race in during the year at the fairgrounds or do the derby thing. At least that is in a more of a controlled situation where there are medical professionals around if someone gets hurt.
Can you tell I am much older than you?

Are you crazy? Neither of you are right...
Pleople are killed like this!! Both of you need to stay home and find another hobby!
BTW - (don't know where you're located but...)
The federal government tabled a bill Thursday to make street racing a crime and impose stiffer sentences for those convicted. If passed by Parliament, the proposed legislation would make street-racing a separate offence under the Criminal Code -- raising maximum sentences in some cases and imposing mandatory driving prohibitions for all convicted.
"It's a very dangerous activity and we want to send a very clear message that people are only entitled to use our public highways if they obey specific laws,"
"Our public roadways are not raceways." The bill recommends raising maximum sentences to life in prison for the most serious cases and also calls for mandatory driving bans for those convicted.
A first-time offender could get a mandatory minimum sentence of one year. "On a second offence a mandatory minimum of two years prohibition and on the third, three years,"
"But a judge would have the discretion to raise that mandatory minimum to 10 years, 14 years and in some cases even life imprisonment."

Racing on the street is about as smart as playing Russian Roulette with a loaded gun. Sure take your brand new camero and race him. Why wait to be killed or maimed in an accident? Take each other out in one race. Just try to do it without running into any other cars but your own.

First, if he has his own car than he has no business racing yours and certainly has no business telling you that you cant race yourself. If he usually has you in the car but is now saying no, there has to be a reason. Maybe he heard how someone was racing and ended up killing/hurting thier passenger.
its all dangerous, but if you are insistant, its your friggin car, do what you want.

The consequences of racing cars on public roads are extremely severe. Do not participate in this activity. You could end up in prison. Or you could be killed or kill someone else. I think I would also get a more level-headed boyfriend.

Racing on a road with curves? Racing on public roads? Your both wrong. If you don't give a damn about yourself, at least consider other people on the road and whether or not you can live with blood on your hands.

It seems he is a bright man. With you in the Mustang, the odds of both of you dying in a crash is high. He wants to protect you -- and it helps him to concentrate on his driving when you aren't there.
However...I think he has also dumb in another area. Why would he drive your new car in a race? Why would you want him to? It sounds nutty to me.

My wife used to drag race on a drag race course. Women can do it just fine, just do it safely and legally.
As a teacher I have lost too many students to crazy stunts like this.
Take Care.

this kind of racing is so dangerous a friend lost his leg last year when he was only 19. and why would you let him drive your car if your not even in it?? both of you should do something safer and if not noone else should really drive your car unless hes on your insurance.
