A sundress made of light, flowy fabric. Really simple (beautiful). Lots of flexibility, you could have an empire waist with spaghetti straps, a short, medium or long dress, any colour from white to blue to yellow.
I think it's most important, especially on your wedding day, to wear a dress that looks good on YOU, so make sure you're comfortable in it and that it suits your personal style, otherwise it'll just end up looking weird.
Just look at dresses that would flatter your body type, choose your colour (I'd say go with traditional white, but you can choose any shade from cream to rose to ivory) and then rule out all the ones that aren't simple and light and flowy!
I got my mom to make my dress, I drew a picture, went shopping for the fabric with her, and together we figured out how to design it. It was exactly what I hoped for.
Don't let other people try to tell you what you want!

For a dress, you want a lightweight dress with little to no train, so that it won't drag on the sand and feel heavy. A beach wedding is a fun, casual affair, and the dress should reflect that.
Alfred Angelo has some very nice informal dresses that work well for a wedding. David's Bridal has some too, but I wouldn't recommend going with them.

Some bridal stores have dresses for destination weddings. I know that Sandals and Beaches have teamed up with Dessy group of New York with a line of elegant destination dresses. Good Luck and have fun!

You just got to go into the store and start trying them on. I wanted a completely different dress then what I bought. My dream dress made me look horrible and like and old lady going to the prom. I went for classier look and actually a friend picked out my dress or I would have never tried it on!!
I didn't think i would want a "bell" shaped dress but it looked perfect on me!!

Go for something thats long and flowing (maybe with a v-neck plunging down to your breasts).
It will look elegant and feminine. Dont do the corset types or puffy dresses it will just look odd.
God I wish I was getting married on a beach, Have a great day!

I would shop around for something between a white cocktail dress and beach dress, you're not going to want the full works in the heat. Try Monsoon, they do some lovely 'low key' wedding dresses.
Enjoy the shopping, hope you find something suitable.

Something light and flowy...crisp white against slightly tanned skin. You can never go wring with simple lines that suit your body shape. If you have nice shoulders show them off, the same with your waste. I loved the dress Alicia Silvertsone wore, really simple and classy. It played up her good bits and hid the less flattering parts of her body.

White sarong style dress with gorgeous diamond accessories and simple white orchids. Go for simple and cool. Be best with no shoes if you're on the beach itself. I would wear my hair up as well to help keep you cool.

Something that will stand up against the rough sand and salt air. You don't want anything so delicate as silk. Also aim for something that will go with sandals. Best wishes and good luck.
