If he pays extra particular attention to what the girl says....for instance I once told a male friend how much I love carrot cake and then he brought me one that his aunt made. It was for my birthday but that showed that he was listening to me and remembering the little things about me. So if he tends to remember the most mundane things about you, then he probably is interested in more than just being friends.
