How do u know if they are justing pretending for my space friends or if they are really using. My step son does not live with me. But when I go to his my space I see he talks about purple weed.

How do you figure this is your child?
I have been a step-child and step-mother. I KNOW that you need to BUTT-OUT!
If this child is smoking pot, his FATHER should deal with it. He should ask him, and tell him what he thinks about it. They should work out the solution with you firmly out of the picture, but supportive of your husband's decisions about his child.
He should not be interrogated or investigated by some lady who married his dad, no matter how much you mean well, or love him or anything.
He doesn't live with you? BUTT-OUT! His father should talk to his mother, or other care-taker, and tell her that there is suspicion there and he wants to have some action taken.
You need to leave his myspace alone, and BUTT -OUT!
All you are going to do is make him sneakier and more deeply involved in rebellious behavior.
If your husband won't step up top the plate and raise his own child, then you need to BUTT-OUT! You have to know you married a loser. Sorry 'bout that.
If he will step-up, then you married someone who is not trying to unload his problems/responsibilities/child on you. You married someone who is a father. Good for you.
As the step-mother of a male child- you have ZERO authority. His dad is his role model, good and bad. Encourage him to be a good dad and back him up, but stay OUT of the discipline business. There will be HUGE resentment there, from everyone.
Your role is to be that boy's friend, if he wants you. To be a sober, kind, loving, respectable, adult presence in his life no matter what he wants.

You go through his stuff, everything in his room, you call his friends and ask them, your the momma, take the doors off the hinges, do what ever it is that you need and feel like doing take him to have a drug test come on he's15.

May be it would be best if his mother, pulls him up on it. Ask him point blank, if he is, or not, and ask him if he knows what he is doing. All he has to do is look around and he will see, what it will do to him.

on myspace, generally if you put something up there its true, and maybe he only smoked it once, thats why he feels that it counts. maybe he smoked it once or never at all.
