I can find ones that you need to pay for but I only need this for 1 or 2 videos so I dont wanna pay for it.

Check out www.download.com and do a search for "avi to mpeg," or "avi to wmv." There are probably freeware and shareware programs on that site. It's sponsored/owned/run by cnet, so you don't need to worry about legality or virus issues.

I have the same problem... i want to put videos and movies on my Ipod and i was told the only way to convert them is to buy the program for it.... it sucks...

mp3 is not a video files but if you wanna have the music only you need to record it( I use my soundcard recorder),
