Basil, thyme, paprika, rosemary, cumin, chili powder, dill, parsley, lemon pepper and a bunch of Indian spices that only my hubby uses.I also swear by kosher salt which is so much better than plain table salt.

It's a really, really good idea to find somewhere that you can buy spices in bulk. I buy them half an ounce at a time as I need them instead of keeping a stock. Hence, my spices are always fresh.
Additionally, I usually buy them unground; if you roast and grind your own spices, the flavor is so much better it's unbelievable. And I tend to use fresh herbs when I can get them, especially basil.
That said, I do still have some basics around generally, for when I just want to whip something up in a hurry. Thyme, rosemary, oregano, fennel, pepper, etc.

About 10 plus. Also I use Mrs Dash. There are 10 or more (different spice mixtures) and I have at least 5. The Original, I use in most things, then I just use my imagination in adding others. Also I am salt restricted and the more spices I use the less salt is needed.
