Ripping is the process of converting from CD format to MP3.
Or vice versa.
Burning is the process of actually putting it on disc.
You "Rip" it off the CD, and "Burn" it to Disc.

ripping is when you put the CD into the disk drive and it takes the music from the CD and and puts it on whatever song playing software you are using.
burning is when you now take that music and record it onto a blank CD disk. your computer must have this capability though.
NOT ALL DO !!!!!

Ripping is converting and compressing from one format to another (cda to mp3, DVD movie to mpeg, etc). Burning is copying to a non-rewriteable media because it's burned in and cannot be erase.
