easily fairly some the Blackwater adult males are former military, in actuality in maximum circumstances it is needed. the rationalization they get abducted and killed so often is via fact the do no longer go out in great convoys like something of the warriors in Iraq and for this reason they have much less protection. on a similar time as i replaced into in Iraq, i presumed it replaced right into a slap interior the face that lots of the interior maximum contractors have been being paid greater to do the comparable job and being given greater efficient weapons, technologies, and equipment than the warriors in my unit have been. I additionally concept it replaced into humorous how Rumsfeld reported "you visit warfare with the army you haven't any longer the army you opt for"...i ask your self whether he instructed himself that on a similar time as he replaced into pulling back infantrymen who had retired or had already been on 2 or 3 excursions. If contractors decide for to do the scuffling with then enable them to do it...yet carry homestead the army infantrymen who're getting killed and wounded with the help of iraqis, and $#!+ on with the help of their government.

i think you mean a squad. In the army 10-12 people form a squad. 3-4 squads equal a platoon. 3-4 platoons equals a company. Insurgents and terrorist are not quite so organized. Terrorist groups are known as cells, several cells makes a organization. Insurgents are formed in militia's numbers vary radically from militia to militia. Several militias together can be amusingly referred to as an army

You've been given the correct answers, so I won't repeat it again, but I would like to say, don't sweat it. Trust me, the troops you are writing are not going to care if you aren't savvy on military jargon. In fact, the less you use, the more like "home" it will make them feel.
Thank you for your support. It's important they know how much we care back home. If they only ever saw the news or read NewsWeek/Time/Rolling Stone/ etc they'd lose all morale. It's a shame our media feels the need to bring our troops down so much.

Unit is the best catch all phrase. Platoon, company, brigade, etc are all names of units based on size. A unit can be as small as 2 people or as big as 60,000. It's the equivalent of "company" in business.
