I'm just curious. In the past I found my birthdate to be listed wrong, previous addresses I had never lived at, open accounts that should have been closed, and I charge I didn't owe. The charge I didn't owe was $30 for some magazine I never ordered or received. I ended up paying the $30 to get it off my report as I was unable to get the dispute resolved. That one made me mad because I hadn't be sent any bills or anything for it, it just showed up on my credit report!

I have never had a problem with my report at Transunion or Equifax. It is always the one with Experian that shows errors.

They make mistakes all the time. You should always check it every 6 months and make sure to check all 3 major credit bureaus. Yes, they have made mistakes on mine as well. You can get it resolved but it's a long process that would require you to dispute whatever is on the report. You can write or do it via email. It's hard and you may not get anywhere but it's beneficial because other lenders that you apply for will see that you're making an attempt to correct mistakes. This makes you seem worthy of credit because of the attempt to fix the errors. Also, sometimes these are not mistakes, but in actuality, it is someone else attempting to defraud your identity. Be careful of this as it has happened to me before..

I check mine often and I've found all types of ridiculous stuff too. It's funny because so much depends on your credit report and you have the responisiblity to be damn near perfect and pay everything on time but the three credit bureaus can pretty much f**k up whatever and it's just like oh well. They have ooooold addresses on my credit report, bills I paid that they say I didn't, two of them might say I have 10 open accounts while another will say I have like 12. It's just plain stupid. If they want us to be so responsible, they need to get their acts together too.

Yes, I try to check it annually and Experian always has problems. They keep accounts on record that have been closed for years. Rather than paying for fraudulent charges, you can contact Experian to remove it from your report. They'll investigate the problem and then notify you.

sadly, you need to check your report regularly, because everyone uses it against you, and yet no one regulates them. recentl legislation has allowed people to get an annual report for free.

i routinely have problems with my report as experian is constantly confusing me with someone else who oddly has numerous similarities - spelling of the name is slightly off, we lived in the same apartment complex, went to the same university, shared similar credit cards, etc. i actually have his home phone and SSN which I got off of MY report. Who knows who has my "private" information.

Goes doubly bad when your "twin" has bad credit, as clearing it can be difficult without legitimate proof. It actually happens enough that the last time it happened, experian said that they have a whole department to deal with it, and "special software" to prevent it from happening again. I'll believe it when I see it, since this is the third time it's happened

Consider this, roughly 35% of credit reports have an error on it. I check mine at least once a year. If you do find a discrepancy, try to correct it as soon as possible.

I don't check it annually, but I have found a mistake before. They had me listed as an employee at a company that I had never worked for in a state that I never lived in. I wrote in and complained about it and they corrected the mistake.

I check my credit report every year. There is always some incorrect information on them. I send, or in many cases, re-send, the correct information to them. You need to be very vigilant with your credit report because all consumer lending is based on your report. (Like home loans and car loans.) You need to be persistent with the credit reporting companies. Good luck.

Yes and yes. It's pretty common to see an error in at least one report.
