well all i can tell you is that go to the doggie pounds that are near you and look in them and you might find a good dog

Stick with the humane societies. They will have already given the dog all his shots and nutured or spayed him. If the dog was to young to be nutured or spayed they will give you a coupon for it. Stay away from pet shops, they have a lot of in breeding an abuse. If you have not owned a dog before I would recommend that you stay away from difficult dogs. Such as challenging or large breeds and owner turn ins.

I recommend http://www.petfinder.com you can search by breed, age, location, etc. They have thousands of shelters listings from all over the country. Thank you for considering adoption! There are 27 million unwanted pets turned into shelters each year! my favorite saying "PLEASE DON'T LITTER, FIX YOUR CRITTER"
-just wanted to add this, even if it is NOT a good shelter, that makes an even better reason to get the dogs out of there!

Go to your local SPCA. They have tons of good pets. they also have had the shots and been fixed. if you want a puppy and not a dog contact your local pet stores most of them will have adoptions monthly or even weekly. Good luck.
