I have a female siamese cat. She is one year old. She has gotten in habit of eating lizards. I don't want her to eat lizards and I want her to stay indoors all the time. What should I do?

thanks

Cat's are natural predators and will catch, kill, and eat whatever critter happens to come their way (size appropriate of course). I don't believe there is any real way to alter this instinct. As for staying indoors, just don't allow her to go out, it may cause some horrible "caterwauling" (bad pun I know) but she SHOULD eventually get used to being an indoor kitty. Make sure she has plenty of toys to keep her amused as well as the occasional roughage cats need.

I wish I could be of more help, but here's what I got :)

Are the lizards indoors? Maybe they need to be exterminated. Is your house completely overrun by them that your cat is eating them regularly for meals?

I have a couple indoor cats, and have no problem keeping them indoors. I've found that once I let them out in the backyard, though, they'll spend the next few days howling to get back out. Funny thing is, they usually forget about the ouside world after a while.

And as far as eating lizards- is it really bad for cats? I'm sure the protein doesn't hurt, but the only thing I would worry about would possibly be some sort of disease being contracted.

Hope this helps!

Ok, you're bigger than she is. I know how those blue eyes affect a person though (see my avatar/icon). Baby wants out too, but I make sure he doesn't get out. It's a pain to always have to watch the door, keep the windows mostly closed, etc. He's proved he can't be outside (ran directly for the street, 1st time of escape). Either that or the poor thing's suicidal... It's hard, but you just have to keep them in. I don't mean to talk down to you here, just asking simple 'checklist' questions: Do you keep the doors/windows shut or screened safely? Do you watch where she is when going in or out? Do you play with her much?

Good luck!
