this is after some cahp posted a question about this. I am contemplating it if nobody else gets time off. And i know a mate who has done it. But still can it be fun and all?

I travelled around the world on my own and had no problem at all.. Infact I can't say I was really on my own much as i found heaps of people heading the same way and met loads of interesting people. However, I think it depends how much time you have.. If you're just going on a short holiday then probably better to try to find someone to go with... also think about where you stay - big resort type hotels tend to be full of people travelling together not interested in meeting new people..

Before I was married I travelled the world on my own! I got jobs overseas and then flew out and had the best of times and met some great people.

There are some great holiday companies that are for single people who are not looking for romance just a great holiday!

I've been to New York, LA, Amsterdam and probably a few other places on my own (I flew to New Zealand on my own, but I met my family there. More's the pity.)

Travelling alone is GREAT fun! You get to do what YOU want and it MAKES you go out and meet new people as you're not protected or buffered by a group of friends. As long as you keep your wits about you, you'll be fine!

Go on an 18-30's singles holiday and it is essential and lots of fun.

If u stay in a youth hostel you are guaranteed to meet people - u can do what u want, when u want, u don't have to worry about what other people want to do...u can make a big fool of yourself and noone back home will know! I have made some of my best friends when I have been travelling by myself - I would fully recommend it!

If you like your own company then going on holiday on your own is good fun, you've got no worries about anyone else and you can concentrate on just enjoying yourself.

Definitely. I travel on my own a lot, usually because i like visiting weird places that my friends don't want to go to. Choose your destination carefully though. I've found eastern european countries (especially poland, latvia, lithuania, ukraine and russia) are especially good. Stay in a hostel though for company if you want it.

i think i would feel too lonely especially if i see others having fun TOGETHER. There's nothing like having some company to share all your thoughts and feelings with when you are on holiday.

Depends what you do, but to be honest if you go sightseeing it's better to have someone to share it with, but if you're just out to go out at night and get jiggy, then not having someone to consider frees you up to do what you want.
