it could be TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint). the first symptoms are an ache in the jaw..eventually it freezes up and takes a minute to go back down. it's painful..but sometimes you just have to live with it. unless it's SUPER BAD (like you can't chew) then you can get jaw surgery where they shave your jaw.

You could have an abscessed tooth. You probably need to see a dentist or an Ear, Nose & Throat doctor quickly. Regardless of the source, it's a sign of an infection and you need to get that checked out ASAP.

i had the same problem when i would sleep on my stomach, because i would rest on my chin and it would get pushed back. try sleeping on your back or side, and take some ibuprofen if the pain gets really bad and see how that works.
