Hi yes some aniamls unlike us humans can be born with malformed limbs...while it can learn to get about very well as it will know no different the question that must be asked is if the kitten wil get a home that will cater to it's special needs...All these things have to be taken into consideration when placing the kitten up to be homed or if they can deal with it's special needs if they choose to keep the kitten...if not I would seek professional help by talking to a vet...Regards Jake

Either it is a birth defect or something is neurologically wrong with the kitten. You should definitely have a vet look at it, and soon, in case it is something that can be treated before it progresses further. Maybe by the time the kitten gets older, the problem will resolve and it can walk normally. If not, research some alternatives to having the cat put down. Plenty of people care for animals with special needs. At worst, you may need to amputate the dragging hindlimbs and fit its back end with a wheel or two.

I'm sorry to hear that. The kitten may have been born with a birth defect or maybe the mother accidentally stepped on it. Is the mother letting it nurse? Is she paying any attention to it? Sometimes they know something is wrong and will push the kitten away and ignore it.
I hate to say that it doesn't sound good and I think your best bet would be to take it to the vet. If it is something that can't be corrected it would be kinder to let the vet put it to sleep rather than have it suffer.
I'm so sorry, good luck.

Sounds like there may be some neurological damage resulting from her development or birth. The kitten may "grow out" of it so it's a wait and see proposition. The brain is a marvelous instrument and with time certain neurons may learn to take over the function of the back legs.

Was the litter a particularly large one? When my roommate worked for the Human Society, she would have to bring home animals due to overcrowding and brought home a mother cat once that had THIRTEEN kittens in one litter. Several of them were deformed: one was missing a leg, one was totally retarded and ran into walls and stuff, and one drug it's back legs like that. Take it to the vet, they will probably recommend that it gets put down. I'm sorry. That's so sad.

It could be a birth defect,or maybe when coming down the birth channel her hips were displaced. Either way, this warrents a vet trip asap. If its something that can be fixed ,time is of the essence.
