As an atheist, I obviously have no religion and I can honestly say I'm not depressed in the least. I'm happier than I've ever been without religious beliefs tying me down.
I was frankly more depressed when I had a religion, spent more time in therapy because of it, so really, heh, I'm quite the opposite. I feel like I can go ahead and live my life freely without worry that screwing up when trying to do the right thing will send me to Hell.

I left religion 5 or 6 months ago, and have since left belief in a god altogether. Ever since, I've had a happier outlook and I've been more hopeful for the future than I have been in a really long time.

None. I already live without religion; I quit believing in any religion when I was about 12 or 13, which wasn't too long ago.

i had religion in my life when i was young, now i have my own family and religion plays no part in our lives. i am no less happy than when i was young. how can people believe in religion nowadays, its such a horrible world to live in, murders rapes wars the list is endless of the atrocities around us on a daily basis. i sometimes wonder what sanctuary people get whilst attending their church and then do they feel so safe once they have stepped out into the street.

Religion has done nothing for me. God however, has delivered me from depression, so I guess I'd be pretty depressed without Him.

Having spent 21 years as a christian and 10 years as an atheist, I can honestly say I had a bigger problem with depression when I was also with Jesus.

When I turned away from Jesus Christ from '89 to '93 I attempted Suicide three times, once by hanging my self, I still cant figure out how that rope came untied. I also drank myself dead drunk, until I blanked out, and did this MANY TIMES ! Again I was suicidal. I was in a constant state of RAGE. Rage is extreme depression focused outwardly. Have I answered your questian?

Religion divides people and gives them something to fight about.
I'd be glad to see the end of religion and with it the end to all the fighting because of it.
