It never was ...... religion and spirituality are two different things .... and it was never the preserve solely of christianity - they just keep trying to hoodwink everyone that it was - that's purely their opinion ......many religions (and there are many) also choose to give this self same impression : that they are one and the same thing and that their viewpoint (their religion) is the only one that has it right ...... and they would argue with all the others (hence the world's history of different and constant religious wars - even today) ......
I would beg to differ that any religion has the right to make this claim for a number of reasons......
Christianity, Judaism, Calothicism, Protestanism, Hinduism, Mormonism, and so on and so on are all atypical 'reglions - they have all the rules and instructions for being a 'good' follower set out, without room for deviation, in a book of whatever their given name, written by an apparently god-like individual who claims to have had a direct line upstairs to their particular god who sat down with them and dictated their thoughts while they made notes to pass on the rest of us .....! What rubbish! - how come them and not someone else - like you or me ... (not necessarily either - but the argument is there).... or at all .....
and woe betide any one indvidual or group of individuals who invite the wrath of their god if they didn't/don't follow their god's instructions and direction ....... No I believe the only true religion is that which all civilised humans have - something that is inherent and I believe in-built ..... to love, cherish, care for and nuture one another, to care about our environment and the earth, to do all we can to live in harmony with each other and nature - the basic rules ..... that is not only 'spiritual' but is the ultimate religion - I believe ......

It never was the sole preserve of the Christian. The human being has expressed a reaching out toward the Transcendent for millions of years.

Given that Religion and Spirituality is meant to include ALL religions and spirituality, then it has never been the primary place just for Christian debate and dialogue. Why is it assumed that religion only refers to Christianity?

Just remember: "Religion" is man's creation and not God's. And "spirituality" is open to interpretation.
A Christian's only concern - is for his faith in Christ. Apart from
that, the world can keep all the clever words and categories they
want. As Jesus said: "These things are passing away..."

Since all are spritually dead in their trespasses and sins until God quickens them, it must still be the preserve of the Christian, as you put it. Outside of that you are just fooling yourself.

God thinks otherwise. He says no one comes onto the father except by the Son.
You are free to believe what you want but don't presume to speak for God.
Did he (God) raise you up as a prophet and tell you you were infallible. I don't think so.
This is an invention of your own, you think you are free to design your own religion. You are not.

Nope. It seems a lot of folks want to give up "community." That's what religion means.
I hear it all the time. "I'm spiritual but not religous."

Right, but serving the God that was became human, and died for our souls is still Christians. Why would you want to be with Him for an eternity if you didn't here on earth.
