Yes! totally normal! They are called 12 year molars. My son is 13 and losing molars left and right. There are 4 12 year molars so be on the lookout for more :)

It depends on whether a tooth comes up underneath it.

I wouldn't worry too much though. It is fairly common for a person to lose teeth in their pre- to early teens.

i would call his dentist.

it doesn't sound normal. my daughter is also 13 and is going in to the destist today to have 4 baby teeth pulled because "her mouth is too narrow and her permanent teeth aren't coming in at the proper rate". the dentist also said that "she should have lost all her teeth by now."

you should call, if only for peace of mind.

Perhaps you need to ask his dentist?
I think that if it was one his remaining baby teeth, it's fine. But if it were an adult tooth, that might be a problem.

I don't recall losing any teeth passed that age. I'd call a dentist and see what they think.

No it's not, unless it was a baby tooth. I'm 30 and I've still got one left!

You need to be more specific: was it a pre-molar? This may be ok.

But what was the cause of him losing it? More details, please!
