In some ways. They are not allowed to serve on submarines.

And they are not allowed to serve on the front lines, or be a member of any unit that may be on the front lines, or behind the front line....such as Navy SEALS for example, or Army Rangers.

Otherwise, women serve in all other capacities the same as men.

There are a few MOSs not open to them. In the Army its Infantry, Special Forces, cannon Artillery,and Armor. By law they are not supposed to be assigned to those type units below the brigade level but in reality the Army is breaking the law every day in Iraq by playing semantics with the military jargon "attached".

Women in the military cannot be in Cavalry units or Infantry units (Rangers etc) They can do any other job. Mechanic, pilot etc.

To some extent yes. They are not allowed to be in most combat arms MOS's (infantry jobs). There are quite a few that they didn't used to be allowed into but now are so it is gradually changing.

Only in Combat Arms, I'm an Army Recruiter... i.e. you can't join, say Infantry or Cavalry.

I don't know about other branches but in the Marines females are not a part of the actaul "infantry" or "grunt" units ...

no, my husbands commander and first sergeant are women. there are plenty of women serving in our military holding important positions and ranks.

At what jobs they are offered? Of course they are- just as in any other career field (regrettably).
