Not so much. What can happen though is they can then begin to garnish your wages. With a judgment the creditor can obtain garnishment approval. They will start deducting an amount out of your paycheck every payday. Some employers do not like having employees wages garnished and will ultimately terminate your employment. Its not legal but employers can come up with just about anything to terminate employment.

There is no debtor's prison in the US. However, she will find that it's VERY hard to get credit now. She won't be able to get elective medical treatment, unless she pays cash up front. Even if she goes to an emergency room, if she doesn't have a genuine emergency, she can be refused if she has bad credit, unless she can pay right now. Most landlords will run a credit check. If her check comes back with all sorts of red flags on it, she's going to have a hard time finding a place to live. She'll be able to buy furniture and such on a cash basis, but not on credit. And so forth. She's also going to have a hard time finding a job that pays above minimum wage and doesn't involve saying "You want fries with that?" and wearing a paper hat. A bad credit history is generally considered to be a very undesirable trait in an employee. So, she might not go to jail, but rest assured, she's going to face some serious consequences.
