I am honestly tired of people pretending to be know-it-alls of christianity and slam others who don't believe the way they do. Why are these things being preached in actual sermons and congregations when we really should be focusing on the teachings of Christ and work together? I don't dare tell anyone my religion as I am SURE people will try and bash me which would defeat the purpose of this question. I will say that I come from a Christian church that never badmouths other religions and actually strives to work with them to help create a better, more tolerant world. Is that so bad??

I should clarify that by "tolerant" I meant better. Sorry about the confusion!

Those people are just trying to "out-Christian" others because they believe that since they know more, they're superior.

Since you are a Christian I will answer your question honestly like. First of all from the way you wrote, I'm assuming that you believe that a "more tolerant world" is a "better" one. If you believe that that's the reason Christ came then no it isn't bad. The question were I think many Christians disagree with is whether or not that truly was the reason Christ came. I too am a Christian but I truly believe that Christ didn't come to create a "more tolerate world" on the contrary I believe he came to show people a life that is very intolerant in the long run. A life where there are very well defined standards of how we should live. That we should live holy as God is holy. Please don't get "accepting" and "tolerating" confused. God is accepting to all but tolerating to none. He takes us in regardless of how we are but once we're in (like my dad would say) we need to follow the rules of the house. This is the picture of a an accepting father. A tolerating father on the other hand would let all come in and let them act anyway they please. That would be like a father or mother letting their children act any old way in their household. Any parent knows this just doesn't work. I don't want Christians to bash one another but this issue is very important because it speaks of the very character of the God we both serve. Just something to think about.

I'm proud to be a christian and I am not ashamed of it...no matter what bashing may come my way.....chritians are very adamant in how they believe.....if it doesnt line up with the Bible teachings and they call them selves a christian then they are wrong...we must stop making ourselves out to be and believe the way we want...it is not what we want but what the Bible teaches and there are many out there who say they are chrisatian and reject the crucifixian of christ among others key points of christianity....
now as for you telling others that you come from a christian church that never badmouths other religions and actually strives to work with them to help create a better , more tolerant world.....well that may one day come back to bite you on the butt..so to speak.....Christians are human and sooner or later they will fail all.....don't put the pressure on your church......just admit who you are and if you get bashed for being a christian hold your head high and revel in it because ,that, persecution is what Jesus went through and who are you to be better than him and never go through it.......but as for the church it needs a complete overhaul ...it needs to get back to the truth of Gods teachings and stop coddling people and saying what makes them happy and makes them want to come back to hear more.....all of Gods word is to be taught not just the happy feel good parts that make us all tingling and happy to be there and make us think we are so great because we are Gods....that needs to stop....the church needs to get real .....

Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!,This bashing and being a know it all NEEDS to stop. I have had people bash me on this site when all I wanted was some honest questions so I can better approach my problems and work to solving them.

I am proud of you that you take the time to write this this is called a rebuke or tough love or speaking the TRUTH in love Ephesians 4:15.

Everyone was born different and raised different BUT there is one God and One Christ if people could realize that they would not always be obsess with proving their point and always being right. A true christian is one who admits and acknowledges when they are wrong. Thank you and God bless you.

I think you should be careful about casting a broad net. While it is true there are people who think the are "Right", the vast majority of us are aware that religion is a function of geography, not of any moral certainty. We are Christian because we were born in a christian nation. Others are what they are for the same reason. Bashing just demonstrates a lack of spirituqal depth and understanding. One doesn't get mad at a child for being a child and having childish views, similarly we should not concern ourselves on an emotional level with these folks. The deserve our guidance and sympthy, not our anger, or they will never "grow-up"

Most Christians do actually focus on the "teachings of Christ" as you say. Jesus taught, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me" (John 14:6). But when Christians actually teach this, they're accussed of "slamming other religions" because they're claiming an exclusive path to God through Christ alone.

In reality, most religions of the world are exlusive. Islam, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. ALL claim an exclusive path to eternal life and teach that. But rarely are they accussed of "slamming" other religions.

In fact, most Christians don't slam anyone. But they do have a strong desire for others, motivated by love, to know the real Jesus. The one that said, "whoever believes in me will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Jesus Himself taught that without faith in Him, you will perish. Is that "slaming" other religions? He called the religious leaders of the day, "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?" Is that being "tolerant"? Jesus helped many people and taught many good things. But the true Jesus had one primary purpose and one primary teaching! To save that which was lost (you and me). And He said that was by faith along in Him!

Because this is all going to come to a head and there will be a violent wide scale massacre I'm sure just as there always has been in the past. I don't think religion has anything to do w/ it. I think this is a matter of evolution. When we finally put away our days of "god worship" and observe the truth, then we can finally say we are an enlightened society. Until then we will break off into tribal, instinctual sects and war with opposing tribes who do not adhere to our viewpoints..as we already are...Jesus is the way...Mohamed is the way...how can any of these truly be the way if they are tearing away at the very fabric, the very core of our existence?

I always thought they are warming up for the day Jesus said that some will kill you, because they know not the Father nor Jesus.

John 16:
1 “I have spoken these things to YOU that YOU may not be stumbled. 2 Men will expel YOU from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills YOU will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God. 3 But they will do these things because they have not come to know either the Father or me.

A house that is divided can not stand we are all member of the same body Jesus said if any part of your body offends you to cut it off if your eye offends you pluck it out
being a Christian we should be a part of the body of Christ we should not fight among each other but do the works of Christ when people try to do what they think is right it will never work a hand does not have the same purpose as a foot but yet they are still apart of our body we are to love the whole body of Christ not just the parts that look like us people are to tied up in religion instead we need to be faithful servants and Children of God Jesus is my brother and i love him so God is my Father and i love him so and I thank Him for his Holy Spirit that comforts me and guides me through my days without them i am nothing. if i must be labeled i choose Child of God

Maybe it's not that they are bashing other Christian faiths. Two of these that claim to be Christian are not. It is not bashing religions if you are Christian and you simply teach the gospel according to Christ teachings. there are two that would cause one to believe a lie and not to come to know the salvation of Jesus Christ. If i claim to be Chrsitain and I teach that Christ was not God and could not forgive sin then I teach against the salvation that is being offered by Jesus. Simply by calling myself Christian does not make me a Chrisitian.

I know what you mean. There are so many divisions in the body of christ. Just be who you are and represent your faith the way you think is right. I know its very tiring when churches seem to be too critical. It basically defeats the things that God wants people to do.
