Brain damage sucks... because it's effects can be weird, unpredictable and evolve with age... You might have some from a past trauma and not know it...but some symptoms may exist---from anxiety to speech disorders to quirky behavior to sleep disorders, etc.!!
From there, you can get into all the meds available to help...
But ABOVE ALL... our brain is the most complex organ in the body...DON"T be ashamed of NOT having a perfect one...WHO does?

I had a blood clot in my sinus veins in my brain caused from birth control for a few years. From the way it sat and the way it partially blocked the flow of blood when it dissolved i have some cognitive problems. Nothing you can notice unless you really know me - i have severe post-traumatic stress disorder from the mini stroke right now - i also have memory loss - like short term memory loss - i drive my b/f nuts b/c i constantly ask him stuff i just asked him. lol i also have problems trying to find the words i'm looking for - aphasia or ataxia i forget the 'clinical term' (no pun intended on that one) and my right hand goes numb for no reason from time-to-time. Most the dr said will get better with time - the nasty headaches have gone away. That's my brain story and it frustrates the heck out of me so much.

Sounds like you have had some experience or know someone who has. I have some damage due to a couple of car accidents and I get along just fine. My short term memory was gone for several months after the last one, and I'm told if I have another injury to the same place it may be very much worse. I've recovered for the most part, and don't have any adverse effects now. I know the brain can heal, but I do worry about the future and what may come with age.

Brain damage is a very hard thing to live with. People do not understand what the brain damage sufferers go through, they see a perfectly normal person on the outside and think that memory or other cognitive problems are just made up. People need to learn more about brain injuries. It can happen to any one at anytime. Just a small bump or shaking of the head can cause this.

I had a concussion as a kid in junior high school.
I still don't know what really happened.
One minute, I'm running in the gym, the next minute I'm sprawled out on the bleachers, my glasses on the floor, with all my classmates standing over me and staring, and I have the worst headache!
Did I slip and fall backward, hitting my head on the gym floor or did one of my evil classmates (they never liked me) whack me from behind with a baseball bat? I will never know.
But I did suffer a mild concussion.
I don't think I have any sequelae (I just love that word).
