We are staying at the Hudson Hotel, if that helps.

That is a great hotel and a good area!

You are right near the Time Warner center, which has shops, restaurants and access to many major subway lines.

Also, if you walk down 9th Ave. towards 42nd Street, (that area is called Hell's Kitchen) there are tons of great restaurants - something for everyone!.

Plus you are close to Central Park, the theater district, and the high-end stores on 57th Street.

Good choice!

Wow....first of all you'll be staying at one of the most unique hotels in NYC.....the escalators are neon....some of the hotel rooms have bathrooms with glass walls so for instance if you are in the shower you can open the curtains and look into the bedroom......it's fun when staying with friends and visiting NYC......the downstairs bar is huge....people very friendly....the area is quite safe indeed....I used to work at the Columbus avenue fair every year in this area......you will love it.........you're not far from Central Park too....this is the beginning of what is called "The Upper West Side" best area in Manhanttan ! .have a great stay.........you'll love the hotel!
