Do you have an idea how much money it takes? If Mexicans had the money required for visas they wouldn't need to come here to work for $8/hr. mowing lawns.
Do you know how long it can take to get a visa? Sometimes many years. Most people have the God-given drive to find a way to feed their families when they are starving. This is just common sense. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
Many Mexicans lose their very lives on the journey here. They have to deal with robbers who lay in wait for them, Immigration looking for them, Minutemen, no food, no water, no money, extreme weather conditions, poor traveling conditions (hopping trains, packed liked sardines in trucks, etc.) It's worth the risk to them for the chance of a better life and a chance to escape poverty. How many lazy Americans won't even walk across the street to apply for a job at McDonalds because it's a shorter walk to the mailbox to p/u the welfare check?

For all those screaming for them to come legally have you ever stopped to wonder or even checked to see how hard that is for them to do? I've experienced it first hand. It's not as easy as you think.

mnksmommy....obviously you have very little ability to comprehend what you read. americans are the ones too lazy to get the jobs @ mcdonalds. have you been to a mcdonalds lately? do you see who the workers are? btw, illegals are not eligible for welfare, social secrity, medicaid or any other government assistance EVEN IF they pay taxes. you might want to check your facts before you let your fingers do the talking.

So what am i meant to cry over your story?
DO you know or are you aware of how many people LEGALLY immigrate here.
Because it is a long process is no excuse.
What they're doing is illegal & no matter what your excuses you can't change that fact,

I don't mind people illegally coming here for legitimate reasons. I don't mind if they're taking jobs that many Americans refuse to take because it's a shitty job with no pay. I do mind, however, when they EXPECT the government and tax payeres to give them welfare, fund free clinics, pay for their child's education. And it's really irks me when they don't try and learn the language. In my personal, unthought out or researched view, if an immigrant, illegal or not, can't speak the language even a little within, say, 3 months, we should be able to ship them back to where ever they came from. It wouldn't be as expensive as giving them aid the rest of their lives.
Even worse than illegal immigrants are big companies getting tax breaks and what not. The amount of money given to people who really don't need it at all far surpasses the amount spend on welfare for natural born citizens and immigrants alike. Funny how no one complains about that.

Why is this debate only about Mexicans? So, you seem to be perfectly OK with the fact that there are 20 million illegals from just about everywhere here ... fine ....
In the interest of fairness then, and supposing the United States is responsible for solving the world's poverty problem, why not let in, let's say, 10-20 million from the poorest African countries? Five countries let's say @ 20 million each ... then there are of course the poor European countries, Albania springs to mind ... another let's say 10 million Albanians, someone? And of course India ... many many poor people in India ... so let's welcome another 20 million Indians .... and Mongolia of course .... anyone willing to take in a couple of million Mongolians?
If not, why not?? Or are our hearts only supposed to bleed for illegal Latin Americans?
When the population of the U.S. reaches 500 million, maybe all the bleeding hearts out there would be kind enough to pay for us legal Americans, who will then be in a minority?

Thank you for that question. I myself am not an immigrant but have ex-family members who are, and I know first hand of how hard it is for them. The lives they leave behind just to supply their kids with food, clothes, shoes, and an education. I am with you if you have never experienced hard times, don't be quick to judge. It is very hard for a Mexican to do things the legal way; they are put at the last of the list. And when you say years, I know families that have waited 10 or more years waiting. I know too many Americans that have falsely gotten aid from the government by faking illnesses, and mental problems just to keep from working. Where as my Mexican friends all of them do not receive any help, and they do pay taxes. Their journey here were not just a skip across the border. I had one friend who got jumped at the border by AMERICANS and they robbed her of everything, her shoes, clothes, just to add insult to injury. That is not right this women was in her late 40's. I manage a restaurant and the only ones coming in for jobs are Hispanics, we have tried to recruit others they but they are not interested in putting in the hours, and doing the tasks that are associated with the jobs criteria. I know if my family was in need and I had to take a chance for opportunity I would. Thanks for letting me rant, I am looking forward to seeing the answers you get.

There are limits on how many are allowed to come because educating poor people costs the rest of us money and funds from our own children's educations. We subsidize poor people in schools and other services. That is why so many want to come, but is also why there are limits.
Limits means the answer may be 'no'. Then it is not supposed to be 'difficult' but 'impossible'. The life boat can't hold everyone.

Hard?
That's the whole idea hon... The point just ran screaming right over your head.
and you didn't even see it?
Wow... Im sorry.
and money is not the issue... THe truck drivers charge them twice that much to take them over illegally so... What's the difference? The difference is right and wrong!
paying some clandestine truckdriver your life savings to get into the USA illegally... Thousands of dollars
Trying to find work and a place to live once you get here illegally?
thousands of dollars...
Doing it the right way and having it maybe come to just a little bit more than thousands of dollars and earning the RIGHT to be here with the rest of us strong and proud that your not picking lettuce in a field on the weekends on a work furlow...
Priceless!

It can't be all that hard given what I'm seeing. I've even seen law enforcement types know about it and walk the other way. Seeing how wel Mexicans integrate into particularly they type of 'system' in California, Florida, and New York City, you're not gonna get takers who've seen it.

The whole concept of immigration law isn't to make it easy for people to immigrate to the US, it's to allow the country to control who immigrates to the US.
The laws are for the benefit of the people already in the US, not for the people trying to get into the US.
If it's too expensive and time consuming for them, well, tough tacos.

They aren't citizens soooo I care about it why???
Yeah they put in all the time and effort to get here illegally just so they can apply for that welfare check because they don't have a SSN or INS number to go work at freakin McDonalds.
If you are so caught up about Mexico being soooo horrible move there and improve it.

BOO HOO!
It's also a lot of work to get a job.
And it's very hard to get up everyday and earn the money you need to support yourself.
But these are not good enough excuses to break the law by going into a grocery store and stealing food...even if you and your children are very hungry.
So, if you want to come to the US, stop complaining that it's a long hard process and do it so that you can come legally...instead of coming as criminals and stealing from the system.

So, the immigrants who DO bother to follow the long and exhausting legal proceedure should...what? Yes, it IS hard to come here legally. We don't (technically) have an open border. Why is it so hard for people to understand that most of us don't care if you want to live here, but we DO expect you to respect our laws. An Irish woman in NYC wrote a letter to the editor of her paper, talking about how it took her eight long years to legally immigrate to America. It shouldn't be a surprise that she was outraged at the thought of giving amnesty to illegals.
As for "lazy Americans" - honey, you're welcome to go back to where ever it is you came from and get away from us "lazy Americans" anytime you want.
