This is a serious illness, and eltroxin is the treatment. Your doctor needs to continue increasing the dose as dictated by your lab results. Please stick with it and go to all your follow up appts. Good luck.

See another doctor for a second opinion on dosage. Also, you said you are suffering from "High" Hypothyroid. "Hypo"thyroidism is where the tyroid doesn't produce enough of the thyroid hormone, thus resulting in your symptoms. "Hyper"thyroidism is where the thyroid gland produces too much of this hormone, causing weight loss, difficulty in gaining weight, etc. I have hypothyroidism. Currently, I am taking 88 mcg (micrograms) of Levothyroxine, the generic equivalent of Eltroxin. There is no cure for hypothyroidism, only treatment, which comes in the form of, you guessed it, in our case, a pill for the rest of your life. Like I said before, see a different doctor and get a second opinion on dosage. HOWEVER!!!! If you are only saying you see no sign of improvement because you haven't lost any weight, your meds won't help you lose weight, they'll only help your body to lose wight the way it is supposed to when you start exercising and eating properly. This may not apply to you, but so many others with this disease think that their meds will be a magical weight loss solution, when it isn't.

yes yes! I have hypothyroidism as well, since I was 13 until 21 i was taking Levothroid, it gave me a lot of side effects and didn't really help that much, I (now 31) take nothing but natural herbs. I use a thyroid activator, thyroid support, kelp, and a T3 T4 hormone stimulating supplement called TS II These are all Nature's Sunshine Product.

if u r not improving clinically, then ur dose needs to be adjusted
with the correct dose, the symptoms improve and so does the lab results of FT4 & TSH
i think u need to increase the dose, do a thyroid function test and see you doctor for dose adjustment

Your doctor would be the best person to consult about medication issues.
