THE RELIABILITY OF SCRIPTURE
Does good archaeological support exist for the bible?
Yes! Unlike other books that claim to be scripture (such as the Book of Mormon), the bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and non believing scholars and scientists. This includes verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 25,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeoligical discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive study, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of history."
DOES ANY BIBLICAL BASIS EXIST FOR THE IDEA THAT GOD PRESERVES SCRIPTURE THROUGH THE AGES?
Yes, I believe that the God who had the power and sovereign control to INSPIRE the scriptures in the first place is surely going to continue to exercise His power and sovereign control in the PRESERVATION of scripture.

When an archaeologist wants to know about a dig site, he must do the digging, earnestly believing that he is digging through rubble with a True archaeological find underneath. When the digging is done, what proof does he have that what he had dug up has archaeological significance and was not an elaborate forgery or complete garbage? Scrutiny, logic and time become part of the analysis, just as is so with Scripture.
Have you done any digging lately or are you just a tourist at a dig site?
Peace,
MoP

If you go back and study the Old Testament and the things that were told that would happen and notice in the Newspaper, on the TV and all around at the things that are happening, you can not know anything put the fact that the Bible is True. If it said one thing will happen and it happen, would it not stand to reason that if it said two things will happen they will happen the same way. Study the Word and watch as things all around you take place the very way the Bible says it will

The Holy Spirit Who lives inside of Me since I asked Jesus to Save me, Keeps Witnessing to me Spiritually, that the Bible is TRUTH like The Holy Spirit is.
Spirit Beareth Witness to Spirit.
I don't know who Shiva is, but if it is not Jesus Christ, come in the Flesh, Died on the Cross and Risen from the Dead by The Father Above, it is a False Spirit.
Try not to be Decieved by the Enemy of All Human Beings on this Thing, Your Eternal Destiny Depends on Who you Worship.

because thousands >witnessed< what happened, so u r going to call them liars too, in order to justify your own singular opinion?
we don' t >use< the bible as a reference ( that's what a >dictionary< is for) we >read< the bible, try as best we can (by human standards) to follow it.
because >all< have lied, >all< have sinned. To accept Christ is to turn our back on that, and it's not easy. for the tongue is one of the smallest members of the body--but it can set the soul on fire!
shiva? if u were to say yahweh i would have understood, just another example if misinformed and misunderstood.
worshipping >Jesus< as the way, the truth, and the life are blessings poured out "pressed down, shaken, and overflowing" (as i can attest to) no other doctrine, "ism", mythology, ect... can back itself up. I got more... but there wouldn't be enough time or space needed.

As an ordained minsister who did the whole seminary thing, read the historical/critical stuff regarding the Bible, and who also believes in the credibility of science, I have to say that there's a big difference in "Fact" and "Truth";
The book of Genesis, for example, is not authoritative in terms of the _facts_ of world history and science. However, its theological point--that the love of God is a covenant that cannot be broken, rings _true_ to me.
Religious truth, belief, and faith are perspectival, never objective.

And why would a group of people that lived in different eras conspire over thousands of years to write false doctrines & letters & testimonies & epistles, & hide them in different places on scrolls & get kill & become fugitives in an effort 2 perpetuate these lies?
Why would both learned & unlearned men & women who live generations apart in the past create some invention 2 bridge these generations so as 2 communicate in order 2 create this elaborate story 2 trick us?

Much like the evolutionary timeline. Just because someone decided that this species lived 30 million years ago, does that make it so? We would have to have a confirmed control group from 30 million years ago to justify this hypothesis. Since the control group is also just someone's idea without any corroboration, the entire concept falls on it's face. We all believe what we want to believe.

Its a choice. But yes faith is the ultimate here. I also have the Holy Spirit within me that bears witness that Jesus Christ's testimony is true and that the Bible is true. There is no other way to explain this. You need your spiritual eyes to be opened and the only way to do this is the yield to Jesus Christ, trusting Him and Him alone for salvation. Then your eyes will be opened to the Holy Scriptures and you will see them as Truth. Blessings.

The Bible has professed many things that are happening today. Isreal becoming a state, wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters, liberalism in the form of false prophets, children being slaughtered, abortion, and on and on and on.
Plus the Bible has grown stronger over hundreds of years.
