Rapture... the end of the world...
According to this doctrine, when Christ returns, all of the elect who have died will be raised and transformed into a glorious state, along with the living elect, and then be caught up to be with Christ. The key text referring to the rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, which states, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord."
Virtually all Christians hold that the Second Coming will be preceded by a time of great trouble and persecution of God’s people (2 Thess. 2:1–4). This period is often called the tribulation. Until the nineteenth century, all Christians agreed that the rapture—though it was not called that at the time—would occur immediately before the Second Coming, at the close of the period of persecution. This position is today called the "post-tribulational" view because it says the rapture will come after the tribulation.

MY opinion:
People have been proclaiming that they are living through the "end times" for waaaaay too long. There's always some unhygienic street-corner evangelist crackpot sputtering about how the world is going to end and that all the heathens better get the Lord harassed into their unsaved souls.
It STILL hasn't happened. The sky isn't falling. The oceans aren't boiling. Pigs are most definitely NOT sprouting wings and taking to the skies. They've been barking about it for years and years and years and they'll STILL be barking for years to come.
It's a scare tactic, a convenient freak- the- everliving- crap- out- of- folks magic wand that can be waved about in dramatic fashion any time the religious collective feels the soul harvest is running dry.
Trust me... go about your life. Ok, I'm sure you will anyhow considering there's really no alternative option (besides suicide, and I've heard “God” frowns upon that), but just make sure to keep in mind: STAY CALM. DON'T PANIC. REMEMBER YOUR TOWEL.

Hi Paul,
Most certainly there are signs of the last days.. we ARE in the last days. However, there are many things still to happen, horrible things. Wars on our own land, famine, pestilence, much horror to reign on this earth before the Lord comes again.
It is a common myth among the Christian world that the rapture will remove the Lords people from such events. It is just not so. The Saints of the Lord have always suffered along with the wicked. He has made ways to remove them from it and shelter them in large numbers to fulfill his purposes, but if we think that the rapture will come and remove us and then the only ones to live here will be the wicked. That is false....
The rapture as you call it is not a reality. We will endure the times along with the wicked, only miracles will follow us to protect us as the Lord will need His people here still to help usher him back one day.
All I can say to you Dear Brother continue to look for the signs and use those signs to prepare your hearts and your homes. Get out of debt, get food storage, prepare your family and shelter your home as if a Temple of God so that you are ready to hear his whispers to remove you to safety if that be his will for your life. Read and pray daily.
God speed to us all......

The rapture is a fear story told to get the gulliable to follow, believe and donate loads and loads of money to mega churches that use expesnive equipment to beam their horror story out over expensive airwaves to reach more gulliable people so that they too will open their pocket books and send even ore money.
The rapture is one of the most effective money making tools invented. And has been since Christianity worked with kings and queens to build bigger churches and buy more gold and pretty things using similar stories.

not really man, i mean every now and then i think about it, but the world is not that bad yet. People in AMerica dont beat up us just because we are Christians, i mean somewhere somehow, but Right now in America, God is all over our dollar bill, Lots of churches everywhere, lots of Christians, when these start dissapearing than we know we need to be ready. When Disobediance and disbelief starts striking all man, we will rise up.

The Dead Sea scrolls are believed to be the remnants of a sect of Christians who believed the end was near. Christians have always been looking to the end.
A true christian lives every day like the end is near, so it just doesn't matter if it is near or not.

I'm not worried about the rapture. I'm worried about the fact that so many people believe in such a ridiculous, disgusting idea. And they even seem to revel in it. It's so ugly.
