In what is called 'The Book of Enoch', which was qouted from in the completed bible (but not included) Azazel is said to have led other angels to earth, they had offspring with women (which were born giants), taught men basically what we call components of witchcraft (herbs, enchantments, astrology...). Azazel and his angels were bound up, until judgement day, and the evil spirits that cause mankind suffering, are the spirits of their offspring.

Does this mean that the devil and his angels are NOT the cause of suffering, but the half-breeds that were left?

The evil spirits are just that, spirits. Yes you are correct, but Satan himself is not bound, only his generals. The Book Of Enoch is so interesting, but what I find even more interesting is the history behind it. I still want to figure out what is in it that scares the heck out of the catholic church so much that they tried to hunt it down to extinction but ignored all the other books of apocrypha.

This story Shows us that the religious institutions of ancient times were already afraid of future giant men, who knew a lot, maybe they foresaw the future "giant" scientists, who are slowly eroding the last bases of all faiths and cults. no wonder the "God" and "angels" in this story called the angel who brought that wisdom to humans by a dirty name (Azazel) and planned to put all these rebels in chains.
Lucky for us modern people, the "chains" of ignorance did not hold.

The Book of Enoch is not biblical. It was used heavily by early church fathers, but failed to make the canon.

The Nephilim were killed in the flood. THE flood. Demons are not bound. As in Revelation, they will be let loose before the return of Christ.

Perhaps it means both are responsible.
