No, I wouldn't want to live in a world where people were not allowed to follow their hearts in terms of what they believed about the existence or nonexistence of a higher power. I just don't like it when people get to sure their answer is the only one and everyone should draw the same conclusions that they do. I think the issue gets difficult in modern society where people of different faiths get together and then feel their beliefs are trod upon by those that don't share them. The friction we see now is how are we going to work out coming together and respecting each other?

How do you not "share your views" though? I mean, through voting these people share their views. Their views impact us profoundly.

I just watched Michael J Fox shake through an interview. The people that are blocking stem cell research have a direct impact on our lives. People that believe a Rapture is coming soon, so the environment isn't important impact our lives. For many people, I don't think you can really seperate your views from you action as a citizen.

So yes, I would still have a problem with it.

I'd have less of a problem with the believers, that's for sure, but I'd still have a problem with religion regardless of proselytizing or not. I'd still have a problem with the hypocrisy and contradictions. Agressive believers just make the irritation come out a bit more. Whether they're there or not doesn't change my views.

That is the main problem with religion. After all if it wasn't "in the name of god" it would be harassment, maybe even mental rape (think about it) forcing yourself onto somebody is rape so this would be the psychological equivalent.

It would be a good start. I hate when people do this to me. It is their faith and not mine.
