I think it would mean you live to fight (with a sword) and it would be your honor to die (by a sword) in combat.

if you live as a warrior chances are that you will die as one, its like a saying i found in a book about the Marine Corp...

it means that those who treat people violently or in a bad way would be treated the same way by other people...it's kinda like what goes around comes around...it's the same idea
