When you buy butter by the pound it comes in 4 sticks. Each stick weight 1/4 pound and is 1/2 cup of butter. or 8 tbs therefore, 1 stick of butter=1/2 cup or 1/4 pound.or 8 tbs

Sticks of butter usually have measurements on the wrapper....so I think each is 1/2 cup or 8 tablespoons. So it depends on if you have cups or spoons to measure it with!
