yes. Rabies and parvo virus are necessary vaccinations. My doctor (and many veterinarians) have stopped giving the feline leukemia vaccination because it wasn't necessary.

Even if you're cat is indoors, you should have a rabies vaccination on the off chance they get outside. Rabies is rampant in NJ.

If the cat goes outside, then yes, they are necessary. If the cat stays inside, then get the vaccines once every three years or so.

I think vaccinations are important even if they are indoor cats. Sometimes people can walk viruses in on their shoes without knowing it. If your cat goes outdoors, they are at risk for exposure from other cats. Some cats are carriers of diseases without showing symptoms. If you have ever seen a cat become ill and die from leukemia or FIP, it is very heartbreaking and not necessary with today's vaccinations available to keep them healthy.

Yes, for the chance something MAY happen. Rabies (in case a cat gets out or bat gets in) is really important. I have seen farm cats die of a few diseases that housecats normally are vaccinated against...if you ever saw that, you would never ask again.

Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Vaccination". It is at the end of the many articles there. Dr Hovfe also has short updates on vaccination in her newsletter archives.

It's VERY important. Some of the things they get vaccinated against CAN be transmitted to people, like feline leukemia.

I think they are. They keep your cats healthy and living for a long time. My cats do not go outside, but I still get their shots every year. Mine range from the ages of 15years to 3months old. I love my little guys and I want the the live for as long as they can. :-)
